The House of Dorian Gray (The Sims 4 Machinima)

Once upon a time there lived an artist, who loved painting his wife. But most of all he loved himself…
Where has the artist gone? What happened to his wife? We can only guess… What do you think? Write in the comments.
Sorry, Oscar Wilde, for changing your story a bit.

Forgotten birthday (First Blogiversary)

I’m always lagging behind. I haven’t updated my Goldilocks and Bears for ages. Some awesome people nominated my blog for several magnificent awards, but I haven’t written the acceptations yet. Not because I’m ungrateful or neglect the nominations. I even have started working on the acceptations. But I’m so unforgivably slow! And being non native English speaker doesn’t make the writing easier.

In April I should have celebrated my first blogiversary. But I missed it. I was busy. And I was upset as I lost my beloved furry baby.  Anyway – shame on me!

As for the Goldilocks and Bears – this story contains more pictures than words. That’s why I began having problems on the Sims 4 site, where the story first appeared. Having moved it to WordPress, I soon faced the problems again and decided to move my fairy tale to YouTube. The decision is quite hard – telling the same for the third time isn’t easy. And I keep thinking: Who needs that? Will anyone watch the same for the third time? And my head is always full of crazy projects, that also take time. I feel ashamed before my subscribers for not updating the story for ages. But I have first to move all the old parts and only after that make the new ones. Yes. I have to. I must! And I will! I promise.

A Lot Of Thanks

This is a Just For Fun entry for The Short Story Challenge by Carewren123 that takes place every month on The Sims forums.

Dear Carewren!

You’ve hosted this wonderful challenge for over a year and I’d like to thank you for everything. For organizing this competition and the polls. For inventing so interesting themes every month and designing the badges for the participants.

I’ve taken part in the Short Story Challenge only three times. But I’ve always enjoyed reading the others’ entries.

Thank you very much for everything you’ve done for the writers and the readers!

Exit Without Saving.

Jess was happy. They were sitting on the bench, chatting and admiring beautiful stars. At least she was admiring the stars. Nick was trying to smoke.
-Stop smoking, – she seized his cigarette and threw it in the trash bin.
-Would you like me to tell you a joke? – he asked.
-OK, – she accepted.ews1-A cowboy’s wife was asked: “How can you live without any quarrels?” “After wedding, we were riding home. My horse stumbled. Hubby said: “One.” The horse stumbled again. He said: “Two.” When the horse stumbled for the third time, he shot it. I asked him: “Why did you shoot my horse?” He said: “One.” I haven’t asked any questions since then.”
-Stupid joke, – Jess frowned.
-Stupid joke! – she laughed.
-Stupid joke, – Jess insisted. The game was getting annoying.
Nick took Jess’s arm and led her towards her house. Jess tried to talk, but Nick kept silence. He took her to the house and disappeared.
All the next day was logy. In the evening Jess heard the bell.
-Hi, – he was offering her a box of chocolates. – Let’s go out.
Without any apologies. As if nothing had happened yesterday.
It looked like he was buying her with those chocolates. But Jess couldn’t do anything. Later, recalling that situation, she was throwing this box at him, banishing him from her sight. But at that moment her love paralyzed her will.

ews2“How happy am I!” – she wrote in her blog the day before wedding. If only she knew how much she would cry!

Nick felt his power over Jess and took advantage of that – every so often he enjoyed his silence whereas Jess was trying to find out what she did wrong. She was begging, screaming, turning out her husband and then imploring him to stay. She hated being so grovelling. But her love, beaten black and blue, still managed to turn Jess into a puppet.ews3

Once, after another Nick’s walkout, she swallowed all the pills she found at home. Then she was sitting at the desk writing her last message. Suddenly, their son Max woke up. He was standing in his crib crying: “Mama! Mama!” And Jess realized that she wants to live! For the sake of her little son, who could hardly talk but understood and loved her! Nick, who just pretended to be leaving, returned and pulled nearly fainted Jess to the bathroom, making her drink lots of water. Jess was scaring the toilet sink humbly.ews4

Her love was poisoned with those pills – husband’s “silence game” didn’t impress Jess since then. When Nick didn’t answer her question, she kept silence herself. Nick changed his tactics. Now, to punish his wife, he left. For his mother’s. Leaving Jess with agonizing doubts: “Will he return?” He did return. With presents. Instead of apologies.

That summer Nick and Jess decided to do some renovation. Why did they argue? No one could remember later. But, having packed his belongings, Nick threw his keys on the floor and disappeared.ews5

Jess was trying not to think about him. Together with Max, who was 12 then, they were moving the furniture, painting the doors and windows, hanging wallpaper. Jess was proud of her son. But she was feeling remorse – she deprived Max of summer vacation.

A month later, when the flat was repaired, the doorbell rang. Jess opened the door and saw Nick.
-How’s everything? I’ve bought a new mirror for you.
Her love was at its last gasp. But that agonizing love was still strong enough not to let out her scream: “Get lost with your mirror!” She just returned to her room, where her favourite computer game was waiting for her.ews6

-Ma, what’s for dinner? – having come from school, Max entered the kitchen and saw Nick.
-What. Is. That. Doing. Here? – pointing at his dad.
-I’m living in here, – Nick tried to joke.
-Clown! – the boy slammed out of the flat.ews7-Max! Where are you going? How about dinner? – Jess shouted running after him.
-I’m full.
He returned home almost at midnight, when Jess was beside herself with despair.
-Where have you been?
-At my friend’s.
-Why haven’t you answered the phone? I didn’t know what to think.
-Aw, c’mon! I’m OK.

That day was the beginning of the son’s awkward age. Again and again Jess was thinking that everything would’ve been different if she hadn’t let Nick in. And Max had gone right off his rocker. He was disappearing for hours somewhere. And when he was at home, he spent hours playing computer games. Max’s teachers kept lecturing Jess for being irresponsible mother. Listening to them, she was feeling miserable. She knew everything. But all her attempts to talk with her son, her cries, her tears, her persuasions – nothing helped.

She was living like a robot: going to work, doing household chores… As soon as she had free time, she would rush to her computer, where her favourite game was waiting.
Jess bought this game for her son when he was 11. She wanted to distract him from computer monsters he loved so much. She liked the game where you can create your own characters, build them homes, fulfil their wishes… She hoped her son would love the game. But Max said the game was boring.
She began to play the game to show her son how interesting it was. But then she got completely carried away. Since then, as soon as Jess faced unsolvable problems, she escaped to virtuality. She liked to build cosy houses for her puppets. She loved that in a doll family it was easier to improve relations than in real life. But the most valuable was that if you’ve made a mistake, it can always be eliminated – just exit the game without saving. If only you could do that in real life! Once she told her husband that she regrets not throwing him out of the house with that box of chocolates. “I’d better live alone if you wouldn’t come again.” “I would come”, Nick said. That made Jess even more desperate. The thoughts of impossibility to change the past were driving her mad. Those thoughts may have caused splitting headaches, which couldn’t be cured by any pills. Nick insisted on her going to the doctor’s, but Jess hated hospitals.

That day she had a headache again. Tired of her tries to reach son on the phone, Jess went to bed – Max often came after midnight. She was woken by the doorbell. “He’s always losing his keys!” – she thought. It was 4 a.m. She heard her husband get up. “Well. Let him talk with the son in a masculine way.”

-Well? What did he say? – she asked half-asleep.
-Nothing. I turned him out.
-What?! He’s only 14! – her sleepiness seemed to have been blown away.
-Next time you open the door, – Nick muttered.
Jess didn’t hear him. She ran out into the street. But she couldn’t see anybody. She tried to phone. “The subscriber unit is switched off or out of range.” Having searched the neighbourhood without any result, she returned home. In the morning, she began phoning Max’s friends. No one knew anything. She was dashing around the flat, not knowing what to do. Terrible thoughts of what could be happening to her beloved son were bursting her head into millions bits.ews9

-Go to bed. What can happen to him? – Nick tried to reassure her, but stopped short meeting with her ice-cold eyes full of hatred and disgust.ews8

Another night came. The knowledge of her own helplessness was killing Jess. She turned on the computer. She wanted to escape.

Jess didn’t hear her husband go out.

She was off her game. Instead of being promoted, her simself got fired. Jess was reloading the game again and again. Waiting for the game to load, she was trying to change the past in her mind. “Let’s go out.” “No!!!” … “I’ve bought a mirror.” “Get lost!!!”… “Max! Wait! I’ll open the door!”
The headache got unbearable. But Jess decided that performing the task in the game would help her in real life: Her darling son would return. Wholesome and alive.ews10

The door opened.
-You should’ve thought of Mother. She’s driven mad.
-You’ve thrown me out of the house, – Max was proud of himself: his parents will remember his lesson forever!
-Ma, why’s the light on?
He entered the room. Jess was sitting in front of the black screen with her head on the keyboard.
-Are you sleeping? – he touched her shoulder feeling sorry.
-Mom! Mommy! – he hadn’t called her so for ages.
Nick, who came in, got motionless.ews11

Max was shaking his mother’s body, hoping to wake her up. He didn’t notice the mouse fall. Woken by the mouse, the screen got bright and they saw a cosy room. At the table, Jess was sitting with a green plumbbob above her head. Her husband and son were having dinner with her, chatting cheerfully.
A happy doll family…ews12.png

The Edgar Evans Award

I’m sincerely appreciative to RosemaryMarie, whose Liev Capra nominated my Daddy Bear for the Edgar Evans Award. I’m also grateful to Edgar Evans by Judith, who started this honourable award.untitled
Daddy Bear’s acceptance speech:
Dear ladies and gentlemen!17-04
I’m really honoured to get such a significant reward as the Edgar Evans Community Service award.
First of all I’d like to thank Liev Capra – a caring son and husband, a wise and supportive father, who does a lot for society.
This award is so unexpected for me. Cough. My speech may sound awkward. Cough. Cough. Sorry. I’m a Bear, you know.
I’m feeling a bit dizzy about this situation: on the one hand I’m flattered. But on the other hand I’m a bit frightened: Do I deserve that? Having been to space several times I still didn’t reach the top of my astronauts career.
I just did all my best for my family and for my job. And I’m glad to have such great children and grandchildren. And my wonderful wife, who I love so much. Maybe the family is one of the most important things for the society.
I would like to nominate Charlie Rocca-Cups (created by Simmer CathyTea for her Sim Blog Wonder), who’s been a real wonder since his childhood. Not only has he created a club, where together with his friends can paint and meditate. He also decided to become a doctor to cure people.

If your sim has been nominated, please do the following:
1.Save a copy of the g:award photograph shown here.
2.Create a post on your blog showing the award.
3.On your post please include a photo of your sim along with his or her acceptance speech.
4.Link back to Jonathan Chronicles.
5.Link back also to the simmer who nominated your sim.
6.Nominate another sim and notify the simmer. Please provide these instructions.

Spirit Animal Award

I’m flattered and humbled as my blog has been nominated for Spirit Animal Award. I want to say huge thank you to wonderful bloggers who nominated me:
Mastress Alita – you should check (if you haven’t yet) her wonderful Sim Stories. I adore her The Cat Chronicles – a diary written by Shadow the cat – funny and moving at the same time;
Persefona711, whose dramatic PARENTCY CHALLENGE keeps you astir with the life of Judith Moore – single mother struggling for her happiness;
Trip, whose mystic Eight Cicadas tell you how important it is to understand people surrounding you;
cathytea, whose SimLit Anthology is full of extraordinary stories. You can’t remain indifferent reading these stories, which make you think.

Spirit Animal Blog Award Acceptance Rules:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you, and link back to their page.
2. Post the award picture on your blog.
3. Write a short paragraph about yourself and what your blog means to you.
4. If you could be any animal, what would it be?
5. Pick and notify ten nominees.

About myself:
I’m a happy mom of a daughter and a son and even a happier granny of a grandson and a granddaughter. I come from Russia. Where snow lies everywhere, even in microwaves. Where bears are kept as pets. Where all people – including women and babies – wear bushy beards. Joke of course, though some people believe that’s true.
My online friends call me Chelsea. It’s a real name. But not mine – my favourite cat’s. (You can usually see her as my avatar.) I’m still not ready to tell my own name – I’m rather shy, though I try to fight against that.
The most important for me is my family. Happy Family is my life goal.
Besides, I’m a crazy cat lady. My husband and me have six furbabies in our flat now and feed even more stray cats living in our neighbourhood.
My other diagnosis is Simfluenza – an untreatable disease I caught many years ago. I won’t write more about that or I won’t be able to stop. 😉
I enjoy creating sims and houses, writing stories and making videos on YouTube.
I also like reading, watching films and listening to music – different music: from Tchaikovsky to The Beatles, from Rammstein to Alexander Rybak. I can’t tell you what kind of music I like. I like good music. – What is “good music”? – The music I like. LOL
And I adore travelling. If only I could, I would travel to Italy and to Australia, to Paris, where I’ve never been, and to London, where I’ve been twice… To cut myself off, let’s say I would travel all over the world. (Including Russia of course – I haven’t visited all the wonderful places of my motherland.)

What my blog means to me:
My blog is now mainly the story “Goldilocks and Bears”. (I’m planning to add more categories, but… so many plans, so little time!)
I’ve always loved dressing my sims as animals. In the Sims2 I had The Gorillaz and The Cows families. However, I wasn’t satisfied as there weren’t costumes for all ages. So my Cows were llamas at university and evolved to humans at the old age.
I tried to make The Cats in the Sims 3 using CC, but got a lot of bad CC. I wasn’t glad again.
Only The Sims 4 Outdoor Retreat made me happy providing bear suits for all ages. My first thought was to make a family from the fairy tale. That is how Goldilocks and the Bears “were born”. Btw, in Russian version this fairy tale is called “Masha and Bears”, so the girl in my family is called Masha Goldilocks. I built a cottage for them and, to show off the family and the house, began publishing pictures with captions in Russian Activity. When I had loads of them, I decided to start a story on the Russian forums. And later the English version appeared (which I moved to WP recently).
One of the first comments I got there was “What is this?”. So what is this? A weird mixture of the fairy tale, loads of screenshots and accounts of achievements. Maybe I’m an awkward writer, but the more I play with my Bears, the more I fall in love with them. I’m even afraid of getting pygmalionia. LOL

If you could be any animal, what would it be?
Nope. Though I do love bears. And wolves. And owls. And dolphins. And many other animals (even spiders).
But my favourites have always been CATS.
My granny had cats. And my mom had cats. As soon as my hubby and me started our family, we adopted a stray kitten. So, I can say that I was raised by cats.

My feline features:
I’m independant. I don’t like rules. That’s why I don’t play challenges. On the other hand, who knows? I can break my own no_challenges rule and start some ISBI one day. 😉
I hate being under the command – I’m rather stubborn. And my own opinion doesn’t always follow majority.
I’m not a party animal. I prefer staying at my comfortable flat to going to some clubs. I’m not afraid of being alone, provided I know that my nearest and dearest are safe and well.
I’m very curious and that’s sometimes dangerous.
Like cats I’m myopic. Though I can’t see in darkness. I can’t see 25 shades of grey (like cats), but I can see 25 shades of blue. LOL

It wasn’t easy to make the list, as many blogs, I would like to put here, are already nominated. Fortunately, Mastress Alita has wonderful threads such as Monthly Story and Legacy Shoutouts and Weekly Reading Roundup,  which helped me find more awesome stories. However, having finished the list, I discovered that some icluded blogs have already got Spirit Animal Award, so I had to edit. Maybe some other stories from my list also got the nomination before, but…
*pretending to be invisible* … I know nothing about that.
So, here’s my list (in alphabetical order):
Beauty by Daijahv – a breathtaking narrative with stunning screenshots, which I’ve read at once – from the beginning till the end.
Dim Sims in the City: An ISBI by pammiechick – this awesome legacy made me laugh till I cried.
Dust to Dust by CitizenErased14  – a gripping story of love that is mightier than death.
Idiot+Insane+Crazy= Idanezy by BLAMSART – a hilarious tale where not only mailboxes and waffles but even popups have the right to speak.
Insanity Family: The Kook Family Backwards ISBI by MichelleLynn01 – another funny legacy that will amuse you a lot.
Once Upon a Legacy by Socallucyfan – I really enjoyed fascinating adventures of Cindy Rella (Oh! And Lucifur, the cat 😉 ).
Pet Masters by jbfairybird How could I miss this wonderful story full of kitties? 😉
Shrektastic by Colorist40 – An unusual way to tell the story of Shrek and Fiona is definitely captivating.
Surreal Darkness by MedleyMisty – I was charmed by the bewitching suppernatural poetry of the story.
The Fairy Tale Reader by Marialein – I was moved to tears by Sera, a teen in an orphanage, and the way he retells well known fairy tales to other children.

So, if you still haven’t read the stories above, I strongly recommend you to check them. You won’t regret.

Wow! More than 1200 words! I’ve beaten all my own records! 😀 Now I wonder whether anyone would read this “War and Peace”. 😛
